Fully Funded Counselling in Schools

We provide fully funded counselling in local Surrey schools, providing each school with a fully vetted & appropriately qualified counsellor for minimum of 2/3 hours per week for at least one term of the academic year.

The British Association for Counselling and Therapy (BACP) explain "Access to free, timely and accessible counselling interventions for children and young people can play a critical role in responding to presenting mental health issues or psychological distress. Speaking to a counsellor can be a transformative experience for children and young people. It can help them cope with the difficult circumstances they face in their lives – and to go on and flourish in the future."

Research suggests that early intervention is extremely beneficial to children & young people, often preventing escalation or worsening symptoms.

More information around school-based counselling can be found on the BACP website here.

We are based in Byfleet and our counsellors travel to schools within a fair commutable radius of Byfleet and we are currently fully subscribed and are unable to offer our free service to any additional schools at this time.  However, if your school would like to be placed on our waiting list or are in the fortunate position to be able to fund a counsellor themselves, please do get in touch here.

What some schools say

Head Teacher, Tadworth Primary

It isn’t always easy to measure the impact of counselling, however, we are certain that the sessions Elisabeth has had have been of real benefit to the children involved. The children always look forward to seeing Elisabeth and appear to get much from their time with her. It has given them the opportunity of having a safe space - with a trained counsellor - to talk through any issues, concerns or worries that they may have. It has been reassuring for parents too to know that their child has someone they can talk to. At a time when CAMHS continues to appear stretched, it has been great to have been able to access this support. With what appears to be an increasing number of children (exacerbated by the pandemic) requiring support it would be great to see the health systems delivering more. It doesn’t look like the demand for trained counsellors to work with children is going to lessen anytime soon so thank you and well done to the foundation for the work that it does.
